Nichole Yanders-Franklin As Cover Story – November 2023 Edition

Please share your background.

I am a small town country girl that had big dreams. I moved away at 17, after my father passed to a big city. I went to school to be a cosmetologist- my dream was to be a Traveling Educator. After a domestic violence injury, I had to give that dream up and turned my second job of Property Management into a career. 20 years later, I ended that career to follow my Purpose and share my story to help other women heal. I started my Clothing Business and Brand 7/27/2022. I have led a very traumatic and lonely life that I needed healing from. However, it was all for a reason. I am here to help and inspire women all over the world to heal and have happiness in their life.

Childhood to Adulthood – How was your transition from childhood to adulthood and what are the bad and good things you remember?

Honestly, for me there wasn’t much of a transition period. Growing up was very hard for me. When I look back on my life, It feels like I was 6 coming home from kindergarten- straight to a young adult, then BOOM! I was in this big crazy world as an adult at 16. Not too much in between. My father raised me while battling Renal Kidney Disease. So for me, I grew up quickly and had no time to be a child. I went from playing with barbies in my room, to hospitals/nurses/doctors and learning to listen for my dad to stop breathing or remembering how to stay calm and give my dad his nitro pills if his heart acted up.

School was okay for me, more like something I had to do then enjoyed doing. I tried to make friends, but most of the friendships fizzled out because I couldn’t really hang out outside of school. You see for me, it was school and straight home. My life operated around my father’s  illness. It wasn’t his fault- it was just the way it was.

I became content in not having many friends that I was close with, and learned how to navigate life on my own. Unfortunately, that turned me into a hyper-independent young adult and then anger set in during my twenties on top of it. I realized I never got the chance to cultivate true relationships. I didn’t really understand the power of my words and tone. I was left being the person that no one “liked at first”.  My father taught me as much as he could in the short time I had him, but the rest I had to learn on my own. Thankfully, I’ve done the work to heal and evolve and I am the person you see today.

There are good memories – My father’s big Bear Hugs, him teaching me how to run a button hook football play in the backyard & helping my dad in the garden. Personally I took joy in the school band & creating art when I was younger. They both were calming outlets for me. As I got older, I transitioned into Color Guard and played volleyball and BBall in Jr/ Sr High.

Struggle – What hardships have you gone through in life?

The biggest hardship was my healing journey. It was more painful than all of the struggles that brought me to it. I realized that all my self love and self worth was off of what I received from my father- and I didnt have any for myself. I had to dig sooo deep and learn so many things so I could be a truly happy person.

I come from a broken home at the age of 6. Grew up without a mother figure. My father raised me, but was terminally ill and passed when I was 16. I endured depression, three suicide attempts, rapes, domestic abuse not once- but three times, Homelessness, loss of employment, lack of self worth and never found who I really was meant to be.

The hardships that surround all of those situations would be too many to discuss in this article, LOL. Just know that I never gave up and made it through all of them to be speaking with you today.

What do people usually not know about you?

All of the hardships.. my story. How strong fearless Nichole became who she is. They see what I have shown them- not knowing that the strength in me comes from the other side of severe pain, trauma and abuse.

What sets you apart from your competitors in the industry and in life?

My clothing and my Brand has a direct message TO HEAL- so far I haven’t seen that anywhere until now. My apparel all comes with a message that comes from my life experiences. Each piece is a part of me that I want to share with the world so that they too, can Heal. My Purpose is what makes it different.

What are your upcoming major events – Unforgettable Moments or products/services that you want to promote/inform?

I launched my Clothing Brand in September 2023. I want the world to know that this Brand exists to specifically help them on their healing journey. My main message is to Empower YOU to love yourself, set healthy boundaries and progress through life’s obstacles.

My first collection has pieces to remind you to LOVE YOURSELF & DON’T GIVE UP.  You are POWERFUL, UNSTOPPABLE AND FEARLESS.  Remember always,  POSITIVITY is POWERFUL.

I have a Podcast in the works that will be focused on Living Beyond Abuse and Trauma. I also am wanting to get into Public Speaking to share my story and be an Inspirational Speaker.

I have several apparel collections coming soon, a daily Journal, a Self Love Card Deck of Affirmations and I want to Share my Story in Book Form.  Down the line I would like to open a domestic Violence Shelter for Women that do not  have children.

Your love life, relationships and family?

After years of healing, I finally was at a place that welcomed love. I met a man that quickly became my best friend. We just celebrated our 5 Year Wedding Anniversary. My husband is my family, and I am his.  I feel like at this point in my life, Family is what you make it. Family is who loves you unconditionally and always has your back. I have friends that became Family, and family that have become friends.  Either way, the relationships have been growing stronger and it makes my heart happy.  My father instilled in me that Family comes first no matter what, so I still try to uphold that.

What expert advice would you like to give?

That your Superpowers lie in your struggles. I know that life may seem hard, struggles may seem like never-ending suffering, but I promise you, that if you Do Not Give Up and you DO THE WORK to progress through – you will blossom into a resilient version of yourself that you do not even recognize. In that, you will find your purpose, your power and your strength. … I’m rooting for you.
