How do you introduce yourself?

Karen Garcia: Hola! Buenos Dias. My name is Karen Garcia. I am native of the warm lands of Colombia. I am a naturalized Unites States citizen. I enjoy goal setting and helping others do the same. I am passionate about Family, and Community. I believe it is important to speak up for others, and makes spaces for them to speak for themselves.

How was your transition from childhood to adulthood and what are the bad and good things you remember?

Karen Garcia: Life has given me a good amount of pushes along the way from Childhood to Adulthood. I had to learn to be respectful of the resources provided to me. I remember dumpster diving with my dad. When all the students would move, we would do our shopping. Also, discovering new things at junk yards. There was that time that I wore my dad’s Budweiser shirt to school and got sent to the principal’s office (In my defense.. I was 11 years old, didn’t know much English and luckily hadn’t started my drinking days yet 🙂

Struggle – What hardships have you gone through in life?

Karen Garcia: I would not call them hardships. I have been blessed with opportunities that some will never get in their lifetime.

What do people usually not know about you?

Karen Garcia: I have a 21 year old daughter that I had when I was 16. I guess that makes me.. 37!!

What sets you apart from your competitors in the industry and in life?

Karen Garcia: Good question! I do not believe life is about competition. I set my goals and take the steps to achieve them. You want something go get it. You will attract the right people and business if you stay true to who you are.

What are your food preferences and body measurements?

Karen Garcia: I enjoy coffee, lunch, and dinner dates. It could be with my family or friends. As a child food was scarce so I love treating people to meals.

What expert advice would you like to give?

Karen Garcia: Have empathy for others and yourself. We are all at different stages in life personally and professionally. Don’t give up on someone just because they are not where you think they should be.
